
A meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) with representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population (MLSPP).
During the meeting, AHIK Chairman Mr. Sahib Mammadov emphasized the favorable environment in the country that provides broad opportunities for the effective functioning of trade unions and the protection of labor rights. He highlighted the government's attention and support for this field.
It was noted that comprehensive measures are being implemented to fully ensure safe and healthy working conditions and to protect the labor rights of union members. The activities of sanatorium and resort institutions are being continuously improved to organize effective treatment and recreation for workers.
The event provided information on the reforms and projects being carried out within the trade union system, the "Kurort" Tourism Information Center, and the newly established Occupational Safety and Legal Aid Center. It was also noted that work is underway on a draft law concerning amendments to legislation related to trade unions.
The importance of strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population in areas such as labor rights protection, occupational safety, employment, and improving workers' welfare was emphasized. It was stated that social partnership is improving year by year, and the General Collective Agreement reflects provisions aligned with modern challenges and requirements, creating additional opportunities for the effective protection of labor rights.
During the event, a video presentation on the activities of AHIK was shown, and a presentation on the proposed amendments and additions to trade union-related legislation was delivered.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population, Mr. Anar Aliyev, highly appreciated the reforms and innovations implemented by the Confederation and underlined the role of trade unions in regulating labor relations and in the development of civil society in the country. He noted that as a result of systematic measures in the field of employment and the labor market, the number of labor contracts has increased and that the social protection of vulnerable population groups remains a priority.
During the meeting, the importance of developing social dialogue, fostering civil partnership, and adhering to the commitments outlined in the General Collective Agreement was highlighted.
At the end, representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population became acquainted with the activities of the "Kurort" Tourism Information Center and the Occupational Safety and Legal Aid Center.
